Two candidates are seeking the position of constable for Precinct One, LaDawn Foley-McGee and Robert Holland, in the March 5 Republican Primary in Wood County.

The winner does not face any opposition in the November election and would take office Jan. 1, 2025.

Constable Steve Bowser did not seek reelection.

Foley-McGee, 42, has been a Wood County resident for 35 years. She is a deputy for the Wood County Sheriff’s Dept. and previously worked for the Quitman school district. She completed two years of college and the Kilgore Police Academy.

She and her husband of 10 years, Timothy McGee, have three children, Destiny, Trey and Allie.

Foley-McGee is member of the Quitman Athletic Booster Club and a new member of the Quitman Pilot Club. She helped with Christmas Sharing, Plus and is a member of the New Life Fellowship Baptist Church in Quitman.

Holland, 47, is a lifelong resident of Wood County and resides in Golden with his wife of 10 years, Calynn, and four children.

He is the chief deputy of the Wood County Sheriff’s Dept. and previously served with the Quitman and Alba police departments.

He is a graduate of Van High School and the Northeast Texas Community College Police Academy in Mt. Pleasant. He has served on the Golden Cemetery Association board and is an elected member of the Golden Water Board.

He has been a Texas peace officer for 26 years including school-based officer and holds a master peace officer rating. He is a certified basic instructor, TCOLE training coordinator, has 40 hours of civil process training and is a member of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas and the International Association for Property and Evidence Inc.
