QUITMAN - Two men were sentenced to prison last week in separate Wood County cases involving burglary, assault and theft.
Cody Heith Heidleberg, 36, of Mineola was sentenced Wednesday, Sept. 16, to 12 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for burglary of a habitation and eight years for assault causing bodily injury-family violence by impeding breath or circulation.
Judge J. Brad McCampbell of the 402nd Judicial District Court imposed the sentences after Heidleberg violated his probation.
Heidleberg was placed on probation in May 2025 for a 2022 assault in which he strangled his then-girlfriend, who is the mother of his child. According to the Wood County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Heidleberg burglarized the woman’s home in June and assaulted her during the burglary.
In a separate case Thursday, Sept. 17, Aaron Trevor Green, 40, of Oklahoma was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for theft of property, a state jail felony.
Green and a co-defendant were arrested in July 2025 after authorities said they stole a trailer, trencher and Polaris Ranger and attempted to sell the property through Facebook Marketplace.
A family member alerted the owner of the trailer and trencher after seeing the property advertised for sale. The owner contacted Green and arranged to meet him under the pretense of potentially purchasing the property while working with law enforcement.
When the owner arrived and identified the trailer and trencher, law enforcement officers took Green and his co-defendant into custody.
Officers also found a Polaris Ranger at the scene. Its owner told investigators it had been stolen and that neither Green nor his co-defendant had permission to possess it. The stolen property was returned to the owners.
Before sentencing Green, McCampbell heard evidence of Green’s criminal record spanning more than two decades in Oklahoma and Texas. His previous offenses included theft, burglary, drug possession, assault of a pregnant person, unauthorized use of a credit card, possession of contraband by an inmate, driving while intoxicated and resisting a police officer.
The court also heard evidence that Green had used methamphetamine “daily” for the previous 12 months while free on bond and that he had previously been a member of a gang known as the “neighborhood crip.”
Green requested probation, which McCampbell denied.
