The Texas Department of Transportation has several construction and maintenance projects planned in Wood County during the week of Oct. 5.
Crews are scheduled to overlay FM 515 from SH 154 to FM 2966. Motorists should expect lane closures, with flaggers controlling traffic through the work zone.
Work will also continue on the U.S. 69/FM 2493 overpass project. Crews are scheduled to work on new bridge elements, including cement treatment. Traffic will be detoured under the bridge, and traffic has been shifted onto temporary pavement south of the existing U.S. 69 roadway.
The $37.9 million project extends from 0.96 miles north of FM 779 to 1.03 miles south of FM 779 and includes grading, base and asphalt work, drainage improvements, construction of a new overpass, curb and gutter, signs and striping. Lamar Companies LLC is the contractor. Completion is anticipated in November.
On SH 37, crews are scheduled to continue installing the hot-mix surface as part of the two-way left-turn lane project. The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph throughout the project area.
The $4.1 million project extends from CR 2460 to CR 2320 and includes widening the roadway and installing a continuous two-way left-turn lane. Baker & Company Construction LLC is the contractor. Completion is anticipated in March 2027.
TxDOT reminds motorists to slow down and pay attention in work zones. Construction schedules are subject to change because of weather, equipment failure or other unforeseen circumstances.
