Quitman-Lake Fork Kiwanis to spotlight local veterans on community banners

The Quitman-Lake Fork Kiwanis Club will honor local military veterans with banners hung around the community on electrical poles.

The city of Quitman and Wood County Electric Co-op are partnering with the club to install the banners.

Sponsoring a banner costs $225, and they will be hung for two years. Sponsors can then renew with a new banner. The banners will feature local veterans as well as some information about their service. They may also be purchased for active duty service members.

The application and more information about the program can be found on the club’s webpage, quitmankiwanis.com.

Fill put the form and provide a photo along with DD-214 discharge papers (if available), along with a check for $225 for the cost of the banner and hardware. The club receives no funds from the project.

They may be given to any Kiwanis Club member or mailed to PO Box 93, Quitman, TX.

The banners are 24 by 48 inches, two sided, in full color.

Deadline for the first order is Friday, May 8. Orders will be placed about every six months as the minimum order is met.
