A mobile delivery unit for GETCAP (Greater East Texas Community Action Program) Energy Assistance will be at 212 E. Goode St in Quitman on Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. According to a press release, the organization helps the qualifying elderly, disabled, and working poor obtain assistance for high utility bills. The mobile unit will answer questions and provide applications.

“We encourage households to apply for assistance, as we know the need is great,” said Program Manager Teresa Jones. “We are making a special effort to reach people who have never applied. Multiple months of assistance could provide relief into the hot summer months.”
