WCEDC director gets a new job
The resignation of Christophe Trahan as executive director of the Wood County Economic Development Commission (WCEDC) was announced Monday.
He served in the post for 21 months.
County Judge Hebron said, “We thank Mr. Trahan for his work on the WCEDC and wish him the best.”
County Judge-elect Kevin White said, “I look forward to working with the WCEDC in selecting the best candidate to fill the slot.” He takes office Jan. 1.
Trahan has accepted a position as economic development director for the city of Palestine. He is scheduled to start in his new position Nov. 28.
The Palestine EDC President Ben Campbell said, “Christophe’s enthusiastic professionalism will provide great leadership for our economic development team. I look forward to him taking the helm at PEDC.”
Trahan said, “As the organization that administrates lodging tax dollars for the county, the WCEDC has a clearly defined mission from the state to use those dollars to market the county to tourists as a means of supporting the local lodging economy. With the help and expertise of East Texas Marketing, LLC, we’ve put together an excellent marketing team that has made some extreme strides in promoting the county – both to its citizens and far beyond. Wood County is now more active than it ever has been from a marketing standpoint in promoting its businesses, destinations and events. I am extremely proud of the progress we’ve made in marketing the county and hope to see that work continue.”
