Tim Westervelt took the oath as a new member of the Alba City Council last Monday.

He fills the vacancy created when Larry Jones moved outside the city. Westervelt will serve until the term expires in May 2024.

City Attorney Jim McLeroy reported that the municipal court docket has been the subject of efforts to work through old cases and keep the docket up-to-date with trials scheduled quarterly.

Some city residents could be receiving jury summonses for cases that do go to trial, he said.

The Alba Economic Development Corp. has approved participation in the Wood County Walls mural project.

Location for the new mural has not been determined. The muralist assigned to the city is from Colorado.

Murals are being commissioned in communities around Wood County in an effort to attract visitors through a mural trail and an annual festival.

Improvements at the city park include new swings which have been ordered and more lighting on the walking path.

Public Works Director Paul Kelbe reported that he and City Secretary Lindy McCarty will be attending training for the new federal requirement to have an inventory of all lead and copper water lines by October 2024.
