Wood County Commissioners congratulate Master Gardeners
The Wood County Commissioners Court heard a presentation from the Wood County Agriculture Extension program at their Feb. 3 meeting. According to officers at the meeting, the Wood County Master Gardeners Association contributed more than 6,100 hours of community service to the county in 2025. Hilary Grider, the Wood County Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent, says that their time equals $214,532.54 “back to the county.”
The commissioners also approved a resolution authorizing the Wood County Sheriff’s Department to enter into an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The agreement, which is based on commissioner approval given last fall, allows license plate recognition cameras to be placed at right-of-ways owned by TxDOT.
The commissioners nominated Dan Strickland and Robert Jackson to fill vacant positions on the Wood County Appraisal District Board. The board had 5 positions open for its recent election, but only three candidates were nominated, leaving these two positions empty.
