Wood County man faces murder charge in stabbing death at Tyler residence
A Wood County man has been arrested by Tyler police and charged with murder in a stabbing death.
Chance Archer James Hull, 22, listed with an Alba address, was taken into custody at the location of the incident at a residence in the 1900 block of S. Sneed St.
Tyler police were called to the location at 5 a.m. Sunday and found the victim with a stab wound after it was reported that Hull had stabbed the victim after a physical altercation.
Hull was attempting to aid the victim when police arrived. He was arrested and booked into the Smith County jail. Bond was set at $500,000.
Hull spent time in prison for a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle in Wood County.
An additional Wood County charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle and burglary of a vehicle were both dismissed.
He was indicted Nov. 21, 2019 and entered a guilty plea March 5, 2020. He received three years probation, but that probation was revoked Aug. 25, 2021 and he was sentenced to a year in state jail Sept. 29, 2021.
Due to time served, he was out of jail by March 5, 2022 when he received a speeding ticket in Wood County.
Jail records also show his residence listed as Mineola.
