August 9

Deputy Hughes, welfare check, Hwy. 80; caller would like check on property owner and dogs appearing malnourished, owner advised dogs had been sick but showed proof of food and water, dogs will be checked later to ensure they are getting better.

Deputy Hughes, theft, CR 2332; caller had been in hospital, someone had been coming by, taking care of animals; firearm, tools, cash missing, case forwarded to investigations.

Deputy Hughes, traffic stop, CR 4186; driver refused to perform standard field sobriety tests, blood drawn. Jason Hood arrested for DWI. 

August 10

Deputies, disturbance, CR 2944; female released from hospital, did not have anywhere to stay. Deputies transported to friend’s house, caused disturbance there.

Deputies, request to speak, Quitman; female advised husband made suicidal comments in argument earlier. Deputies met with husband who stated he was angry, did not want to harm himself.

Deputies, responded to wreck, assisted where needed.

August 11

Deputy Croney, theft, FM 1801; someone stole lawn mower from residence, entered as stolen.

Deputy Pollard, burglary, Yantis; someone broke into two buildings, owner did not wish to pursue charges. 

Deputy Way, criminal mischief, CR 2482; someone poured water into gas tank causing damage, victim wished to pursue charges, case forwarded to investigations.

Sgt. Williams, disturbance, CR 1975; victim’s brother became upset after dog chased chickens, assaulted victim during argument. David Herrera arrested for assault.

Sgt. Williams, criminal mischief, CR 1941; homeowner stated ex-wife who was trespassed came onto property, caused damage to truck, case forwarded to investigations.

August 12

Sgt. Morrison, assault, Holiday Villages; victim’s grandmother stated he was assaulted by another kid nearby who pulled him off golf cart, pushing him to the ground. Deputies unable to locate suspect, offense report completed.

Deputy Pollard, theft; victim’s vehicle broke down on side of road, friend told her male took vehicle without permission, theft report completed.

Deputy Pollard, theft; caller stated was out of state, neighbor told her a storage building had been broken into, motorcycle missing, owner provided serial numbers, entered as stolen.

Deputy Smith, traffic stop, Hwy.154; observed driver throw baggie out of window, later found to contain crystal substance. Erik Strother arrested for tampering with physical evidence.

August 13

Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Cooper, suicidal subject; caller advised husband had firearm, threatening self-harm, subject did not have firearm, transported to receive treatment.

Cpl. Croney, theft, Hwy. 182; when property owner checked property, observed buildings broken into, two trailers missing, entered as stolen.

Cpl. Rapp, Deputy Rich, deceased person; caller came to residence, observed female on floor with blood around her. Investigators notified, autopsy ordered.

August 14

Deputy Rapp, criminal trespass, FM 3056; property owner advised tenant who had moved came onto property trying to retrieve items, suspect given criminal trespass warning.

Deputy Comeaux, Winnsboro ER, assault; victim at Lake Quitman hanging out with friends, when one attempted to hit him, he pinned him to the ground. The father of friend then hit victim with bat, victim did not wish to pursue charges.

Sgt. Mayer, fire, FM 288. Quitman Fire Dept. notified, game warden to keep watch on it from getting out.

August 15

Deputy Rapp, scam, CR 3589; someone claiming to be from Amazon said victim had $1,500 balance to be paid, instructed to take half out of checking, half out of savings, given barcode to take to Walmart, incident report completed. 

Deputy Rapp, burglary, CR 2700; victim called back stating husband’s cousin went through her vehicle and house, didn’t need law enforcement. Deputies responded to residence to ensure everything OK. 

Deputy Rapp, Hawkins, eviction issue; caller had been evicted, landlord put her items by road, people had started taking items, would not return them.

Sgt. Mayer, Hawkins PD, warrant service; suspect fled into residence. Deputies arrested suspect. 

Cpl. Baldwin, suspicious vehicle, CR 1562; determined to be burglary in progress. Deputies located suspect, Billy Clark, arrested on outstanding warrant.
