Wood County Sheriff’s Report
November 1
Lt. Milbourn, animal complaint; victim advised neighbor’s dog came onto property, killed one of her dogs. Deputies will attempt to contact dog owner.
Cpl. Rapp, theft, CR 2445; caller advised someone stole multiple cans of gas from underneath carport.
Deputy Way, juvenile male standing on bridge, Hwy. 80; stated he went for walk due to being upset, mother picked him up.
Deputies, gunshot victim, Quitman ER; victim stated she and friend were looking at friend’s new firearm when she accidentally shot herself in leg. Both parties’ stories matched, victim flown for treatment, investigators looking into situation.
Sgt. Mayer, Deputy Comeaux, possible kidnapped person, Hawkins; caller received message from friend saying they were being held hostage in storage unit. Deputies received permission from business owner to check units, did not locate person.
November 2
Cpl. Rapp, stolen vehicle, Private Road 6462; deputies located stolen vehicle and suspect who was arrested for active warrants and unauthorized use of motor vehicle.
Cpl. Burdick, Deputy Haley, assault, CR 4471. Both victims advised they had been assaulted by cousin who fled scene, warrant issued, deputies located suspect, Joshua Poole, arrested for assault.
Deputy Comeaux, theft, FM 49; caller stated nephew in jail, female selling his personal items, victim’s power of attorney will make list of stolen items.
November 3
Deputy Pollard, criminal mischief, Sheriff’s Office parking lot; someone keyed side of vehicle. Camera footage will be reviewed to locate suspect.
Lt. Milbourn, Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Croney, violation of protection order; male stated suspect in residence with protected person. Deputies entered residence where suspect, Billy Stone, arrested for violation of protection order, blue warrant.
Deputy Pollard, theft; caller left firearms at friend’s house, now missing, did not wish to pursue charges, firearm entered as stolen.
Cpl. Croney, theft, Hwy. 154; someone climbed gate to victim’s property, stole multiple items, provided possible suspect.
November 4
Deputy Rich, assault; caller had been assaulted by two people, went to hospital, incident occurred in another county, appropriate agency contacted.
Cpl. Smith, theft, FM 1795; multiple items missing from residence.
Sgt. Williams, Cpl. Smith, possible burglary in progress, CR 3846; when victim came home, door was locked, she always keeps it unlocked. Deputies did not locate anyone in residence, list of missing items made.
Sgt. Morrison, Deputy Pollard, suspicious person, Holiday Village; caller advised female climbing his neighbor’s fence into their yard. Deputies located female who advised she did not know where she was, appeared to be intoxicated. Laura Clanton arrested for public intoxication.
November 5
Sgt. Morrison, Deputy Pollard, welfare concern. Jail staff advised male being released advised he was going back to his residence where protective order in place. Deputies located male’s grandmother but not the male, received call of male knocking on people’s doors, located suspect, informed again of protective order, told to leave area.
Sgt. Morrison, Deputy Pollard, welfare concern, CR 3114; caller’s mother with dementia left without cellphone, did not say where she was going. Deputies located female who appeared to be driving correctly in direction of residence, made it to her house safely where deputies learned there was miscommunication with mother and daughter.
Sgt. Williams, assault; reporting party advised mother claimed she had been assaulted by husband the night before, offense report completed.
November 6
Deputy Comeaux, criminal mischief, FM 17; black car got stuck in caller’s yard causing damage, fled scene. Deputy located vehicle, performed traffic stop. Driver, Douglas McBride arrested for outstanding warrant.
Deputy Haley, Deputy Way, disturbance, CR 3494; deputies determined original argument occurred in City of Hawkins. Both parties had spoken to Hawkins PD officer who told them to call Sheriff’s Office, parties made aware they would need to contact Hawkins PD to pursue charges.
Cpl. Burdick, welfare check, CR 4627; back door to residence open, two well-fed dogs in house, no one home, caller advised they may wish to file their son as missing due to not talking to him in two months. Further information will be obtained.
November 7
Cpl. Rapp, suspicious circumstance, FM 1795; caller observed two subjects breaking into abandoned home on his security camera, caller contacted two subjects who were advised to leave residence, did not wish to pursue charges.
Deputy Skinner, theft, Private Road 5551; female stole money from victim’s purse, deputy contacted suspect, retrieved money, victim wished to pursue charges.
Sgt. Mayer, Cpl. Burdick, motorcycle accident; motorcycle driver deceased, DPS investigated.
