September 25

Deputy Pollard, animal welfare concern, Yantis; appeared to have been run over with minor injuries, contact made with rescue group to take dog.

Sgt. Williams, Cpl. Rich, physical disturbance, Yantis; caller had been assaulted by boyfriend, he was fleeing toward Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County notified, located suspect, detained him, victim had minor injuries to head, said suspect pointed knife at her, threatened her. James Sims arrested for aggravated assault with deadly weapon. 

Cpl. Croney, harassment call; victim told ex to stop contacting her, he has continued to send emails, deputies awaiting copies of emails to complete report.

September 26 

Sgt. Morrison, violation of bond conditions; female who had bond conditions to not contact victim had sent voicemail, bond conditions confirmed, offense report completed. 

Cpl. Croney, loose dangerous dog; dangerous dog out of secure area, roaming, dog owner advised dog was out, citation issued to owner.

Lt Kovic, Deputy Holland, Deputy Haley, verbal disturbance, CR 2248; party called 911, hung up, deputies spoke with both parties who advised argument was over male trying to leave while intoxicated, male had family member pick him up, parties separated for the night. 

September 27

Sgt. Cox, dog bite, CR 2176; victim riding scooter when four dogs attacked her, dogs’ owner arrived, advised he did not have vaccine records, advised he would quarantine dogs at residence, follow up will be completed.

Cpl. Burdick, stolen vehicle; someone stole vehicle, firearm in vehicle, Sulphur Springs located vehicle, processed it before returning it to owner, case forwarded to investigations.

Cpl. Rapp, animal complaint, FM 2869; two dogs tied up, not being looked after, owner advised dogs being taken care of.

September 28

Cpl. Rapp, stolen motorcycle, CR 1681; during night someone stole motorcycle, entered as stolen.

Deputy Skinner, theft; caller advised boat was at relative’s house, now missing, family member will check with other members to see if they have it.

Deputy Smith, sunken truck, trailer and boat; owner of vehicle advised winch cable snapped, caused rear of truck to come up, become fully submerged.

Cpl. Burdick, violation of dangerous dog order; while caller was driving golf cart, dog supposed to be quarantined came out, chased him, caller did not have video footage, homeowner would not come to door.

September 29

Deputy Skinner, follow up; boat possibly stolen, victim believes family did not take boat, wished to enter boat as stolen.

Sgt. Cox, Deputy Smith, EMS assist; EMS received call of male possibly deceased, witness advised they observed male under vehicle with wheel on top of him, autopsy ordered.

Deputy Smith, traffic stop, FM 2869; driver of vehicle, Rodney Petrea, found to have active warrant, placed in custody. 

Cpl. Burdick, burglary, CR 4230; multiple tools, items removed from residence, case forwarded to investigations.

Deputy Way, suspicious person, CR 1600; caller observed three subjects on Ring camera, later discovered they were breaking into vehicle, video showed two males around vehicle, third person in white truck, offense report completed.

September 30

Cpl. Croney, Deputy Pollard, Deputy Whisenhunt, multiple vehicle burglaries; multiple items taken from vehicles, including firearms, suspect’s vehicle appears to be white Ford pickup. 

Cpl. Rich observed vehicle with broken tail lamp, Hwy. 154; vehicle turned onto county road, turned its lights off, deputy activated overhead lights, suspect vehicle turned its lights on, sped off, located it further down road after it wrecked through fence, lying on its side. Driver Carl Pendergrass arrested for evading with vehicle, reckless driving, endangering child.

Deputy Williams, Deputy Haley, inquest; step son came to residence to check on step father, found him on floor, autopsy ordered due to no one present at time of death.

October 1

Sgt. Morrison, Deputy Whisenhunt, missing person, FM 1254; family unable to contact subject who was returning to residence, subject’s vehicle caught on license plate reader nearby, no other hits since then, subject entered as missing.

Cpl. Rich, Deputy Haley, welfare concern; caller had not heard form grandmother in awhile, deputies located subject on floor awake, caller advised to contact hospice, then EMS.

Deputy Comeaux, physical disturbance, Jarvis; unable to contact caller again, contacted other party, did not wish to pursue charges.
