Wood County Sheriff’s Report
Sgt Cox took a theft report by phone. The caller advised the business is missing $1,000 from transactions from a previous day. An offense report was completed.
Deputy Haney responded to a found firearm on County Road 2385. The caller stated while doing yard work he located a firearm. The firearm was retrieved and returned to the Sheriff’s Office for safekeeping until an owner can be located.
May 14
Sgt Cox and Deputy Smith responded to an assault in Holly Lake Ranch. The victim stated her husband assaulted her during the night and it lasted throughout the night. An offense report was completed.
Deputy Knox responded to a suspicious person on County Road 2262. The caller advised her ex-boyfriend showed up and threatened to break into the residence. The suspect left prior to deputies arrival and was later arrested by Mineola PD for evading arrest.
Deputy Williams, Deputy Haney, and Deputy Knox performed a warrant service on County Road 1590. Mark Hardy, was arrested on an active warrant.
May 15
Sgt Williams, Deputy Swann, and Deputy Hammond performed a warrant service on FM 14. The wanted subject was not located on the property. Burt Sperling, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Deputy Whisenhunt took a theft report by phone. The caller advised his ex-girlfriend stole multiple items from his property. An offense report was completed.
Sgt Rich and Deputy Gloar were dispatched to a suspicious persons on Hwy 154. The caller advised two subjects were seen outside of a mechanic shop and they then fled into the nearby woods. Raymond Hamm, was arrested on an active warrant and both subjects were issued trespass warnings for the property.
Deputy Vanatta and Deputy Nichols responded to a stalking call in Mineola. The caller advised her ex-boyfriend was following her in his vehicle. The subject was located and Estevan Arellano, was arrested for DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
May 16
Deputies performed a warrant service at the Winnsboro ER. Sara Moses, was arrested on an active warrant.
Sgt Williams responded to a theft on County Road 4510. The caller advised he moved around 10 months ago and just came back to visit the property. When the caller returned, he observed multiple items missing from the property. An offense report was completed.
Deputy Swann made contact with a subject on County Road 3164. After further investigation, Ascencion Cadena, was arrested on an active warrant and felon in possession of a firearm.
May 17
Sgt Williams, Deputy Swann, and Deputy Hammond were dispatched to a disturbance on Private Road 5534. After further investigation, it was determined the wife assaulted her husband which caused multiple minor injuries. Natelie James, was arrested for assault family violence.
Deputy Swann conducted a traffic stop on FM 14. The driver, Billy Cockerham, was arrested on an active warrant.
Deputy Vanatta responded to a disturbance in Hawkins. Contact was made with the caller who advised the child they are a guardian of struck them in the face during an argument. The juvenile had just been released on a previous assault charge and was arrested and transported to a detention facility.
May 18
Deputy Smith responded to a theft on County Road 2389. The property owner stated someone stole materials from the construction site. A possible suspect was provided and an offense report was completed.
Deputy Way took a criminal mischief report by phone. The caller stated his ex-girlfriend damaged his garage door with a bat and broke several windows. The rp wished to pursue charges.
Sgt Cox and Deputy Way responded to a problems with a juvenile in Holiday Village. The caller stated her step son got mad when he was forced to do school work and broke a window out of the residence. The parents will transport the juvenile to receive treatment.
May 19
Deputies responded to a disturbance in Hawkins. The caller advised her boyfriend slapped her and pushed her on the bed. After investigation, the suspect was located at a residence nearby. Corbin Feldhauser, was arrested on an active warrant.
Deputy Haney took an animal bite report at the Quitman ER. The victim advised her cat bit her while she was petting it.
