Wood County Sheriff’s Report
Sept. 9
Sgt Williams responded to a welfare check on Private Road 5174. The caller advised his daughter and granddaughter were being abused at the residence. After further investigation, it was determined the child’s injury occurred while playing.
Lt Morrison, Sgt Williams and Deputy Hammond responded to an assault on County Road 2163. The victim advised her boyfriend assaulted her while in a vehicle and again as she attempted to flee. The suspect fled before deputies arrived and the case will be forwarded to investigations.
Deputy Whisenhunt took a theft report by phone. The caller advised someone stole items from the property and took fuel from a fuel tank. An offense report was completed.
Sept. 10
Sgt Williams took an assault report by phone. The caller advised her husband had physically assaulted her multiple times. The caller provided information regarding multiple incidents and the case will be forwarded to investigations.
Deputy Rich and Deputy Nichols responded to a disturbance on County Road 4200. The parties were separated for the night and a report was completed for a stolen firearm.
Sept. 11
Cpt Milbourn assisted Upshur County with a missing juvenile. Deputies located the juvenile and returned the juvenile home.
Sgt Cox responded to a disturbance on County Road 4200. The caller advised her son broke out all the windows in a camper and threatened to assault her husband. The suspect fled before deputies arrived and the victim did not wish to pursue charges.
Deputies performed a warrant service in Holiday Village. Jeffery Mcwaters was arrested on an active warrant.
Deputies performed a warrant service on County Road 2950. Davis Ellis was arrested on an active warrant.
Deputies responded to an assault on FM 515. The caller advised his daughter was being assaulted at the residence. Deputies made entry into the residence and Tyler Huff was arrested for assault-family violence.
Sept. 12
Sgt Cox, Deputy Way and Deputy Hammond responded to a disturbance on County Road 4200. The caller advised their grandson threw water on them and then threatened them with a pitchfork. Garrett Amason was arrested for assault-family violence and resisting arrest.
Deputy Hammond responded to a stalking report on County Road 3960. The caller advised she believed her ex-husband was entering the residence and taking items. A protective order was already in place.
Deputy Williams, Deputy Knox and Deputy Netherland responded to an assault at Lake Holbrook. The caller advised a male subject punched another male and then broke a vehicle window. The suspect fled before deputies arrived and the case will be forwarded to investigations.
Sept. 13
Deputy Way previously took a theft report for a missing golf bag and clubs. A male subject called and advised he located the items on the side of the road. The golf bag and clubs were returned to the owner.
Deputy Williams, Deputy Knox and Deputy Netherland responded to a disturbance in Hawkins. After further investigation, the subject was transported to receive treatment.
Deputy Knox and Deputy Netherland responded to a harassment call on FM 49. A male subject was issued a trespass warning at the owner’s request.
Sept. 14
Deputy Whisenhunt responded to property damage in Hawkins. The caller advised someone damaged the front doors by shooting them with a pellet gun. A report was completed.
Sgt Williams and Deputy Hammond responded to a suicidal subject in Yantis. Upon arrival, deputies located the subject deceased.
Sgt Rich and Deputy Nichols responded to a criminal trespass in Hawkins. The caller advised a neighbor continued to show up at night and walk on the property. A trespass warning was issued.
Sept. 15
Sgt Williams and Deputy Whisenhunt responded to a disturbance on County Road 2389. It was determined two male subjects were involved in a physical altercation and one kicked the other in an attempt to distance himself. Neither party wished to pursue charges.
Sgt Williams and Deputy Whisenhunt responded to an unwanted person on Private Road 6209. The caller advised her ex-husband showed up angry after being served custody paperwork. The suspect left before deputies arrived and no offense occurred.
Sgt Rich and Deputy Nichols responded to a disturbance on County Road 1792. Both parties were intoxicated and neither wished to pursue charges.
