Yantis battles past Sulphur Bluff in five sets
The Yantis Lady Owls battled through five sets last week to pick up a district win over Sulphur Bluff.
Yantis took the opening set 25-22 before Sulphur Bluff answered with a 25-18 win in the second. The Lady Owls went back in front with a 25-23 win in the third, but Sulphur Bluff forced a fifth set after taking the fourth 25-21.
The final set came down to the wire, with Yantis pulling out a 16-14 win to take the match 3-2.
“Our Varsity Lady Owls were down, but fought their way back and came out with the win in 5 sets against Sulphur Bluff. What a fight,” Head Coach Jamie Garcia-Dulude said.
The win put Yantis at 2-1 in district play.
The Yantis JV team also went three sets against Sulphur Bluff but came up short.
