Lady Jacket star Sabria Dean tallied 31 points in a lopsided 70-22 win over the visiting Alba-Golden Lady Panthers last Tuesday, exceeding 2,000 career points for the Lady Jackets. The achievement also placed her at number 50 of the all-time Texas high school girls basketball scorers.  more

Yellowjacket  freshman T.J. Moreland came out with a hot hand to stoke Mineola’s 66-39 win over neighboring Alba-Golden last Tuesday.  Moreland, who finished with 19 points, hit four 3-point shots in the first quarter to give the Yellowjackets an early cushion against the Panthers. more

Mineola has little trouble with Liberty-Eylau

The Mineola Lady Jackets turned in one of their best efforts of the year in a 55-34 New Year’s Eve win over the visiting Lady Leopards of Liberty-Eylau. Stand-out performer Sabria Dean chalked up 31 points and scored in practically every way possible.  more

Lady Jackets win at Rains

It is no secret, Sabria Dean accounts for over 50% of the Lady Jackets’ scoresheet. If you add her assists and the impact of her opening up shots for teammates, that impact would be closer to 75%. Mineola’s 45-39 win at Rains High School Friday is a good example of what the dominating artistry of Dean will force opposing teams to do. more

Guards carry the day for Jackets

Yellowjacket guards Jonah Fischer and T.J. Moreland combined for 39 points in Mineola’s 73-57 win Friday at Rains High School. The pair kept the Jackets scoring apace with accurate shooting, aggressive driving play and timely assists. more

Mineola hoops squads make TABC rankings

The year 2020 has already brought an uncommon distinction to the Mineola athletic department, as the boys and girls basketball teams were ranked in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, TABC, Class 3A Top 25 coaches poll. The Dec. 30 poll recorded Coach Brad Gibson’s Lady Jacket squad at 13th while Coach Ryan Steadman’s Yellowjacket team broke into the poll in 25th place. more

Academic all-state honors awarded

The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) has recognized Quitman’s Ben Burroughs, River Chaney, Riley Flanagan and Jace Reid as academic all-state student-athletes. Mineola awardees are Zane Bedford, Wylie Franks, Brady Gully and Dalton Rogers. more

Yellowjackets roll past Trinity Academy

Mineola’s 64-51 victory over visiting Trinity Academy Dec. 3 was three games in one. The first game spanned the first quarter and extended three minutes into the second period. Fluid scoring by both sides marked this action, and it ended with 5:16 on the clock left in the first half and the score tied at 19. more

Last-second win aids Mineola effort

It was an inbound play from under the Mineola basket. With 16 seconds left on the clock, and the score tied at 45, the Yellowjackets needed a score to stay in the tournament. Inbound plays are a source of pride in the Jacket basketball program, and that pride is well-placed. The pass went to the second man flashing into the lane. Kelby Bruner secured the pass and in one motion went up for an uncontested lay-in. more

Lady Jackets earn consolation at Athens

The Mineola Lady Jackets made a huge splash by defeating 4-A schools Liberty-Eylau and Chapel Hill (Tyler) en route to the Consolation Championship at the Athens Invitational Dec. 5-7. more
